How the Cluster works

Each Cluster has a Cluster Educator who is employed for the three years of the initiative to drive and facilitate the work. The Cerberus Cluster Educator is based at the Beaumaris Campus of Sandringham College.

The following teams work with the Cluster Eductor:

  • Cluster Management Team
  • Cluster Leadership Team
  • Cluster Action Team (CAT)
  • Project Teams (Action Learning Teams)
  • Principals of the ten schools.

There are currently 9 Project Teams in place involving 62 teachers. They are sharing and trialling strategies and approaches in a wide range of areas that will help us realise our goal. Each team has developed chosen specific teaching and learning challenges and developed them into specific research questions. All teams have adopted an ongoing, cyclical Action inquiry approach to support, guide and capture their work.

Cerberus Cluster’s research project focus

The aim of our initiative is to improve the level of engagement of our Middle Years students and to address the difficulties of transition by adopting a common approach to teaching and learning. Our research questions are:

  • What are the competencies and skills that Middle Years students need to develop? How can we facilitate their development?
  • What teaching and learning approaches engage and meet the needs of Middle Years students? Can we adopt a common approach in our Cluster? If so, what, how?
  • How can we develop a more seamless transition between Primary and Secondary schools in our cluster?
  • How can we develop the Cerberus Cluster schools as a learning community?
