Seasons Program

The Seasons program is offered by the school to assist girls who have experienced the loss of a significant person in their lives due to death, separation or divorce. It acknowledges the College’s awareness of the need for on-going support and encouragement in times of loss.

Seasons is a peer support group program, developed by the Catholic Family Welfare Bureau, that provides an opportunity for young people to express, acknowledge, normalise and integrate their grief. The name Seasons was chosen because it connotes the cyclical moments and movements of life and death.

The program is conducted over ten 40-minute sessions. During these the group is guided through a process of seeking ways to adjust to the changes in their lives because of the loss. The group leader/guide is Sophie Willer, a qualified teacher and psychologist who supports students at our school.

Seasons is a process that

  • Is based on the sharing of life stories
  • Draws on the wisdom of each person in the group
  • Creates a safe place for sharing and exploring the stories of grief and loss
  • Encompasses story, symbol and (non-religious) ritual and celebration
  • Gives the opportunity for the expression of questions dreams and hopes
  • Is a place for the sharing and valuing of memories.
