Curriculum Events
Students can take part in many events based around curriculum areas.
These include:
Tournament of Minds (TOM)
Tournament of Minds is a creative thinking
and problem solving program that is run annually in every Australian
State and Territory, culminating
in an Australian Final in October. Justice Michael Kirby launched
the program in Melbourne in 1986.
TOM objectives
To provide the challenge of real, open-ended problems
- To develop creative
problem solving approaches and techniques
- To foster cooperative learning
and team-work
- To promote knowledge and appreciation of self and others
- To encourage
experimentation and risk taking
- To expand and reward creative and divergent
thinking
- To stimulate a spirit of inquiry and a love of learning
- To develop
enterprise
- To celebrate excellence
- To model “real life” solutions
to problems
