Enrolment at MGSC

Starting Secondary School at Year 7 is by application the year before. It is managed by the Department of Education. MGSC can only accept applications for Year 7 when the student is in Year 6 (no earlier) using the official application documents. Do not complete the enrolment enquiry below. See the Year 7 Application from Year 6 section.
Joining MGSC at a higher year level from Year 8 to 12, is managed as an Enrolment Enquiry. Positions are limited at all year levels and the Department of Education placement policy will apply. Use the online enrolment enquiry below to make your enquiry.

Year 7 Application (from Year 6)

Enrolling in school explains how the Placement Policy’s ‘priority order of placement’ is used for government schools. Use Find My School to find your school zone.

At a government primary school

Families at a government primary schools will receive the placement information package from their school and return it to their primary school.
Remember - Place MGSC as your first preference on the application form.

At a non-government primary school, home schooled or interstate

Some non-government (Catholic and Independent) primary schools manage the placement process on behalf of families. If not, these documents will assist.

2027 Year 7 placements offers will be made on Wednesday 24 June.

Year 8 to 12 (Late Year 7 enrolment enquiries)

Enrolling in school provides helpful information on making an enrolment enquiry for higher year levels at MGSC.
When a year level is full MGSC manages enrolments using the Placement Policy’s ‘priority order of placement’.

Documentation

MGSC, like all schools, collects information as part of the enrolment process. To verify this information, MGSC may ask for supporting documentation. The checklist details what documents parents and carers must provide. These documents are generally requested after you receive an enrolment offer, except for proof of address and visa documents.
To progress any application Proof of Address is required. This is particularly relevant when there are no or limited vacancies at a year level which MGSC is currently experiencing. Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au

An Assistant Principal will then make contact to further your enquiry. This is when supporting documentation may need to be completed to finalise enrolment.
MGSC has two semesters and a Headstart program in late Term 4. Succesful mid-year applications commence from Semester 2 or at Headstart.
